When will they be available?
Soon. We're ramping up production as fast as we can and expect to begin shipping corsets in about a month.
Are laces really obsolete?
Laces are obsolete for tactical corsets in the sense that you don't need laces to tighten the corset. But we do include grommet holes and paracord lacing so that you can tight lace it up if you want to.
However, we find that being able to quick release the fastex buckles to get in and out of the corset beats keeping it laced and having to use the busk. The click-click-click-click-click-click of buckle release is instantly addictive.
Can you wear a tactical corset without tightening it fully?
Yes you can adjust the fit of your corset on the fly without removing it by reaching back to the quick-adjusting buckles. You can put it on quickly and wear it with just the top and bottom buckles fastened for maximal torso flexibility. You can tighten all the buckles but two and unfasten all but those loose ones to be able to loosen and tighten it back and fourth in a hurry.
What kinds of activities are tactical corsets great for?
Clubbing: lighter, sunglasses, overnight kit
Arting: carry your paints, brushes, pens, pencils, multitool
Airsoft & Paintball: Ammo pouches, radio, nametapes, unit patches, goggles, multitool
Burning Man: The first burners to discover Tactical Corsets tweeted messages like "I just came playa dust!" Tactical corsets are awesome for carrying a full Burning Man kit: Food, water, radio, chapstick, goggles, multitool.
Rollerderby: Strike fear and absorb hits.
Toy Soldier Uniforms: Tactical corsets are great for female utility soldier uniforms.
Weddings: More than a few people want to get married with themselves or their partners wearing tactical corsets.
Apocalypse: In the event of zombie outbreaks or other near-eschaton disruptions of business as usual, a tactical corset can be the core of a SHTF bugout kit.
Conventions: Tactical corsets are great for conventions where you're dressing up and carrying around a lot of stuff for long days on your feet.
Everyday Carry: Many have remarked on the urge to never take their tactical corset off, such is the strength and utility it imparts. You can everyday carry your tactical corset if you want to much as you would a favorite utility belt. It is quickly adjustable to a comfortable fit where you can breathe, flex and stay equipped.
What kind of boning do you use?
We use spiral steel boning for the best possible combination of shaping strength and athletic flexibility.
Why do some of the corset pictures look shiny?
The first two prototypes were not made from Cordura. The final corsets are much tougher than those early versions.
Can you modify my favorite corset to be tactical?
Maybe. We can modify some types of corsets to add tactical webbing and fastex buckles as a backup or replacement for lacing.
Is making corsets hard?
Yes. Much harder than we bargained for when we started the project. But there are resources and trainings available to help you learn if you dare.
Are tactical corsets bulletproof?
Not yet. We're developing bullet-resistant versions that will have removeable aramid fiber and rifle plate armor inserts in the future.
Contrary to popular belief, most "tactical gear" is not armor but load-bearing equipment for carrying gear and weapons to give the operator speed because speed kills and in a world where most armor consists of an 8x10" armored plate the size of a piece of paper on your chest the best defense is a good offense.
Do you make Tactical Corsets for men?
Yes. The first was sold to a gent and Alex wears his regularly. A men's tactical corset waist-cincher model will fit guys and look great.
Is the Tactical Corset suitable for shooting range use?
Clearly some think so! But be careful of brass. As overheard on Twitter: "clearly i shouldn't wear a tank top on the gun range, but i think i should definitely wear this: hot Tactical Corset". Just be careful not to catch hot brass in your bra/shirt/corset. Stand clear from the flying brass from others. You could wear a tight-fitting Underarmor shirt under the corset for protection. Here's a video of what happens when brass mistakes your bra for a basket.
Can I attach a katana?
Okay, this is not that frequent, but the occassional famous female hacker does ask. We're working on a Katana sheath PALS attachment that will be allow draw both on the hip Iaijutsu-friendly (two words that are quite incongruous together) and over the shoulder for crawling through air ducts. We're making it for our first requester and it will be available to other interested parties soon.
Colors and patterns?
You can get them in any color so long as it's black so far, but we're going to offer various colors and camoflage patterns in the future. Including pink.
What laws govern the use of body armor?
We don't yet ship ballistic body armor in Tactical Corsets, but when we do, there are laws to be followed.
There are a number of laws governing the purchase, use and transport of ballistic body armor. These laws are serious business. Body armor is defensive but any defensive capability is also an offensive capability because it keeps you in the fight long enough to take someone else out.
No Villains
